-kept as lordship in personal union with Russia, occasionally occupied in wars
-following French Wars > Fourth French War (1880-4), Jever excluded from newly unified Germany
-following Young Russian Revolution (1902-8), Jever does not fall and is instead held by military
-desires to maintain itself as a White hotspot and potentially a base for restoration
-with almost all Romanovs (and all men since Paul I) dead they declare a niece of Alexander, empress Xenia
-only escaped by marrying a Hanoverian aristocrat
-accepts this offer and she converts back to Russian Orthodoxy
-large part of White diaspora flees to Jever, becomes slim majority
-despite some nationalist seething from Germany, German govt considers it not worth it and other countries oppose it
